However, I cannot even open Activity Monitor when this happens, so this is not an option (but indicative of overload of some kind - I have 16 GB of RAM in an imac from 2015, and a solid network (not wifi), all of which should be plenty?). The suggested test in the article is to temporarily disable Excel in Activity Monitor and to see if Dropbox CPU usage goes down as I do that.
Thanks Lusil, this makes sense, but isn't doable.įrom the article you mentioned, I would assume that Excel conflicts with Dropbox, tries to access the file in the Dropbox folder and Dropbox interprets this access as a change and tries to sync it.
